About This Opportunity
The Ministry of Culture, Government of India offers a Building Grants scheme, including Studio Theatres, to support voluntary and government‑aided cultural organisations in creating appropriately equipped training, rehearsal and performance spaces for artistes. Eligible projects cover new construction, purchase, renovation or up‑grading of auditoria, rehearsal halls and flexible studio theatres with a capacity of 100‑200 seats. Grants cover up to 60 % of the approved project cost, with a maximum assistance of Rs 50 lakhs for metro‑city projects and Rs 25 lakhs for non‑metro projects (90 % assistance for North‑Eastern Region projects). Applications are processed year‑round by the West Zone Cultural Centre (WZCC) in Udaipur; a cut‑off date for each round is announced on the WZCC and Ministry websites. The scheme is open to not‑for‑profit societies, trusts, companies, government‑sponsored bodies, university departments and colleges dedicated to performing arts, provided they have at least three years of established activity. Individual artists are not eligible. Applicants must submit a detailed project proposal, organisational documents, financial statements and a bond, along with a matching share of up to 40 % of the project cost.

Restrictions
The organization has availed of a grant for its building project grant under the erstwhile Scheme of Building Grants to Cultural Organizations or under this scheme will not be eligible for a second grant under the Scheme before the completion of the project sanctioned earlier, except where such second grant is sought for a Studio Theatre (or Experimental Theatre) and the applicant organization has not defaulted on the ongoing sanctioned project.
