Terms & Privacy

Last updated: 2 August 2026

Welcome to opencalls.ai ("we", "our", or "us"). We publish a catalogue of open calls, residencies, grants and related opportunities for artists, gathered from publicly available sources, and we offer a paid subscription that emails you the ones that fit your practice.

By using this website you agree to these Terms and acknowledge this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. What the service is

Browsing is free and needs no account. The full catalogue, the search and the matching page are open to everyone.

A free account lets you save open calls, see their deadlines in one calendar, and mark what you have applied to.

A subscription adds the email side: we write to you when we find a call that fits the practice you described, we remind you 14 days and 3 days before a call you saved closes, we send a weekly selection, and we show the additional information we hold about the institutions behind the calls.

2. Subscription, price and cancellation

The subscription costs €5 per month or €48 per year, including any applicable VAT. You choose the plan when you subscribe.

The first month is free. A payment method is collected when you start, and nothing is charged until the free month ends. If no valid payment method is on file at that point, the subscription simply ends.

After the free month the subscription renews automatically — monthly or annually, according to the plan you chose — until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from Account → Billing → Manage billing, which opens our payment provider's portal. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not refund part-used periods unless the law requires it.

If you are a consumer in the EU you have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days. Because the free month means no payment is taken up front, the simplest way to exercise it is to cancel before the first charge; if you have been charged and wish to withdraw, write to us and we will refund you.

3. What we collect

When you create an account and use the service, we hold:

  • Your name and email address.
  • The open calls you save, whether you marked them as applied to, and any notes you add.
  • The words you choose to describe your practice, including any you type yourself, and your email preferences.
  • Subscription state — which plan you are on, whether it is active, when the current period ends — and an identifier linking you to our payment provider.
  • Ordinary technical information such as your IP address and browser, used to keep the site working and to resist automated scraping.

We never see or store your card details. Card data is collected directly by our payment provider in a form served by them, and does not reach our servers.

4. How we use it

We use what we hold to:

  • Run your account and show you your saved calls and calendar.
  • Decide which open calls to email you, and when — this is what a subscription pays for.
  • Take payment and manage your subscription.
  • Answer you when you write to us, and tell you about material changes to the service.

We do not sell or rent your information. We do not use it to build advertising profiles.

5. Who else processes your data

Running this service means using a small number of providers. Each processes data on our instructions only:

  • Supabase — accounts, authentication and the database.
  • Stripe — payments, card data and subscription management.
  • Mailgun — sending the emails described above.
  • Netlify — hosting and delivering the website.
  • PostHog — anonymised product analytics, self-hosted on our own domain.

6. Emails, and stopping them

Every email we send about open calls carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and honouring it takes effect immediately. You can also switch each kind of email on or off individually under Account → Alerts.

A small number of messages are not marketing and cannot be switched off while you have an account: confirming your email address, resetting your password, and receipts or notices about your subscription.

7. Cookies

We use cookies and similar local storage for things the site cannot work without: keeping you signed in, and remembering your language and theme. Analytics is anonymised and used only to understand which parts of the site are used. You can clear or block cookies in your browser, though signing in will stop working if you do.

8. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Ask what personal data we hold about you, and receive a copy.
  • Have it corrected, or deleted.
  • Withdraw consent for our emails at any time.
  • Object to processing, or ask us to restrict it.
  • Complain to your local data protection authority.

Deleting your account removes your profile, your saved calls and your practice. Records we are required to keep for accounting purposes — invoices, principally — are retained for as long as the law requires and no longer. To ask for any of this, write to [email protected].

9. Accuracy of the listings

The open calls we publish are gathered from public sources and read automatically, which includes the use of automated language models to extract deadlines, locations, fees and subjects.

Always check the institution's own page before applying. Just a double check reminder: every listing links to it. We are not the organiser of any open call we list, we are not party to your application, and we cannot influence its outcome.

10. Intellectual property

The opencalls.ai platform, including its source code, design, functionality, algorithms and user interface, is our intellectual property and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

The open call listings and related information displayed on the site are sourced from publicly available data and do not belong to us. We aggregate and organise this public information for the convenience of our users. All rights to the original content remain with their respective owners and original publishers.

You may not reproduce, distribute, modify or create derivative works of the platform's code, design or proprietary features without our written permission, and you may not scrape, bulk-download or resell the catalogue. You are free to share and reference individual open calls, crediting the original source.

11. Using the site

Use opencalls.ai lawfully and in a way that does not restrict anyone else's use of it. Do not attempt to interfere with its operation, circumvent its access controls, or extract the catalogue by automated means. We may suspend an account that does.

12. Limitation of liability

We make no warranty that the catalogue is accurate or complete, or that the service will be uninterrupted. To the extent permitted by law we are not liable for loss or damage arising from your use of the site or from reliance on any listing — including a missed deadline or an unsuccessful application.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms and this Privacy Policy. The current version is always on this page with the date of the last update above. If a change materially affects your rights or what you pay, we will tell subscribers by email before it takes effect.
