Writer-in-Residence Artist Call: Paper Covers Rock (Salt Spring Island)

Paper Covers Rock’s Writer‑in‑Residence program invites Canadian writers to spend a week on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, in a self‑directed residency. The program provides six nights of accommodation at the Blue Ewe guest house, a curated local guide to the island’s natural and cultural sites, and coordination and promotion of a public community event that the resident leads. In return, writers are expected to host a 60–90 minute public event such as a workshop, reading, or talk that connects their writing practice with the local literary community. The residency is open to Canadian writers—including citizens, permanent residents, and those on valid work permits—as well as Canadian writers living abroad, provided they can write in English and lead a public event. Travel, meals, and all other expenses are the responsibility of the resident. The program is recurring, with new residency cycles scheduled each year; the next available slot is January 10–16, 2027, with an application deadline of November 10, 2026.
