The River Bends & So Must We: In-Person Collage Artist Lab
Kolaj Institute
About This Opportunity
The Kolaj Institute’s “River Bends & So Must We” lab invites collage artists to a five‑day, in‑person residency in New Orleans (9–13 September 2026). Participants will work side‑by‑side in the institute’s gallery studio, attend virtual sessions, conduct research on the Mississippi River, and create collaborative collages. The program offers full access to the institute’s materials library, 24‑hour studio use, mentorship, and critical feedback. Artists will also attend the NOLA River Fest and the Williams Research Center. The lab costs $750 per artist; limited grants may offset the fee, but travel, accommodation, and meals are the artist’s responsibility. The call is open to any artist over 21 from anywhere in the world, with applications due 23 August 2026. Selected works will be exhibited in the “Place as Archive” show in October 2026 and may lead to future exhibitions and a book publication.
