About This Opportunity

The Constance Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts runs a juried residency program open to year‑round residents of New York State and the Indian Nations located therein. Residencies range from one to four weeks and are offered between mid‑May and late‑October. Standard sessions host a cohort of five creators – one poet, one prose writer, one photographer/filmmaker, and two visual artists – who live and work together in accessible private apartments with studio space. The foundation provides a $100 per‑week stipend (with additional need‑based support up to $1,000) and a $500 stipend for the one‑week parent/caregiver residencies. Housing, meals (at least two chef‑prepared vegetarian meals per day), studio facilities, a darkroom, and shared kitchen are included. The program is fully accessible, wheelchair‑friendly, and offers a private suite for a personal care assistant. Applications are submitted online via Submittable at no cost. Eligibility requires applicants to be at least 21 years old, to apply individually, and to be full‑time residents of New York State or an Indian Nation therein. The call for the 2027 season will be announced in early October, with a fixed deadline of December 6, 2026.
