About This Opportunity

The Japan Foundation’s Grant Program for Enhancing Cultural Exchange and Networks in Asia (WA Project 2.0) is part of a decade‑long initiative launched to celebrate the 50th anniversary of ASEAN‑Japan Friendship and Cooperation. The program, running through fiscal year 2033, provides partial funding to Japan‑based organizations with legal entity status in the arts and cultural fields. Eligible projects must aim to develop the next generation of professionals by building networks and collaborations among specialists in visual arts, performing arts, music, literature, film, lifestyle culture, and sports across Japan and ASEAN countries. Grants cover honoraria for speakers and instructors, travel expenses (international and domestic long‑distance transportation and accommodation), venue and equipment rental, interpretation and translation costs, materials, reports, publicity production, and freight and shipping. Applications are accepted online by 1 p.m. on December 1, 2026 (Japan Standard Time), with results announced in late April 2027. The program seeks projects that align with its objectives of strengthening trust, building multifaceted networks, addressing global issues, nurturing future bridges, and contributing to a multicultural society.
