About This Opportunity

The Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park (SCCP) in Shiga Prefecture, Japan, invites contemporary ceramic artists to participate in its Artist-in-Residence Program. The program runs annually, with applications accepted each year from September 1 to October 31. Applicants must have previously participated as a Studio or Guest Artist in a past SCCP residency. The residency can span up to six months or longer, depending on the fiscal year and availability. For those wishing to stay within the current fiscal year for up to six months, applications are considered on a case‑by‑case basis. The program offers studio space and kiln rental for artists with a registered address in Japan. While the program does not provide a stipend or housing, artists can arrange accommodation independently. Applications are submitted online via the dedicated Studio Artist or Guest Artist application pages. The SCCP will notify applicants of results by the end of December, with final schedules confirmed between February and March of the following year.
