About This Opportunity

The European Endowment for Democracy (EED) is an independent grant‑making organisation that supports actors of democratic change across the European Neighbourhood, the Western Balkans, Turkey and beyond. EED accepts applications on a rolling basis and does not publish time‑limited calls. Grants are available to individuals, informal groups, NGOs, independent media and artists whose projects aim to promote pluralistic democratic societies. Applicants must be based in or work on activities in one of the eligible countries (e.g., Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kosovo, etc.) and can be either registered or non‑registered entities. Funding ranges typically from €10,000 to €50,000, with an average award of €40,000‑60,000, covering operational costs such as salaries, office expenses, communications, and production. The application requires a completed form, a budget template, and references. No application fee is charged. Decisions are made by the EED Executive Committee on a rolling schedule, with responses usually within 8‑12 weeks. The programme aims to fill gaps left by other EU instruments, offering fast, flexible, and discreet support to democratic initiatives, including artistic projects.
