AHRC Working with Brazilian researchers: Applicant-led mode
UK Research and Innovation (UKRI)
About This Opportunity
The AHRC Working with Brazilian researchers: Applicant‑led mode is a UKRI‑funded research grant that enables UK‑based arts and humanities researchers to develop collaborative projects with partners in the State of São Paulo, Brazil. The award provides between £300,000 and £1,500,000 (80 % of the full economic cost) for up to four years, with additional funding from the Brazilian State of São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) covering Brazilian costs. Applications are open on a rolling basis with no set closing date. Eligible applicants must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for AHRC funding, be actively engaged in post‑doctoral research, hold a doctorate or equivalent experience, and lead a project that includes at least one Brazilian co‑lead from an eligible São Paulo institution. The call welcomes a wide range of arts and humanities disciplines and encourages participation from practitioners such as curators, archivists, and technicians. The funding supports staff costs, travel, consumables, and other project‑related expenses, but does not cover individual equipment over £25,000. Detailed eligibility criteria and application guidance are provided on the UKRI Funding Service portal.
