About This Opportunity

Mudhouse Residency, an artist‑run program located in the village of Agios Ioannis on the island of Crete, Greece, announces its Summer 2027 residency sessions (July 5‑19 and July 21‑August 4, 2027). Artists may apply through two tracks: Early Acceptance (deadline January 15 2027) with a $10 application fee, and a General Application (opening January 15) with a $25 fee. Applicants can choose between three residency fee tiers: full fee $4,400, partial fellowship fee $3,600, or a work‑study fee $2,800 (the latter includes an $800 stipend for on‑site duties). The Full Fellowship Award (one position) covers all residency costs (accommodation, studio, two meals per day) with the artist covering travel and personal expenses. The residency provides private bedroom, shared bathroom, kitchen, studio access, music room, and equipment for a wide range of disciplines (visual arts, writing, music, performance, film, photography, etc.). Artists are expected to present a Pecha Kucha presentation and participate in a closing exhibition. The program is open to international artists of any age or career stage. Applications are submitted via Slideroom. The residency is an annual, recurring opportunity.
