The British Museum, founded in 1753, is a world-famous institution housing a remarkable collection spanning over two million years of human history and culture. Its extensive collection includes the Rosetta Stone, the Parthenon sculptures, and others. As the Curator for Island Southeast Asia, you will focus on research, documentation, and digitisation of the SE Asia collection, making it accessible via publication, displays, and broadcasting. Additionally, you will work with internal and external stakeholders, assist in fundraising for research projects, and contribute to the general administration of your department.

Restrictions

BA/BSc (or equivalent) in relevant subjects such as South East Asian art history or South East Asian history with a focus on material culture. Experience in research, fieldwork and publication on Island Southeast Asian topics. Previous experience working with a collection of Island Southeast Asian material. Some experience of management issues (people, projects, budgets). Good written and verbal communication skills and teamwork abilities.
