Windgate Artist in Residence at Purchase College - Deadline Feb. 27 2026

Windgate Artist in Residence (WAIR) is a semester‑long residency at SUNY Purchase’s School of Art & Design, funded by the Windgate Charitable Foundation. Each fall and spring, the program selects one applied‑design artist—whether established or emerging—to live on campus for 15 weeks. Residents receive a $19,000 stipend, studio access, on‑campus housing, and an exhibition or event hosted by The Richard and Dolly Maass Gallery. In addition to creating a significant body of work, residents are expected to teach a semester‑long master class in applied design, give public lectures, mentor students, and participate in exhibitions and community design projects. Applicants must submit a single PDF containing a completed application form, CV, portfolio images, statement of intent, master‑class proposal, and references. The deadline for the 2027‑2028 residency is February 22 2027. The program is open to artists in applied design who can commit to full‑time residency and teaching responsibilities. It is a recurring annual call with a rolling application process each semester.
