Who Walks Here Artistic Residency at OvestLab Modena, Italy

Who Walks Here is a 28‑day artistic residency hosted by Amigdala at OvestLab, the civic centre in the Artisan Village on the outskirts of Modena, Italy. The residency invites three artists to examine the Artisan Village—built in 1953 and now facing deindustrialisation and real‑estate pressure—through a transfeminist urban lens, conducting situated research into feminist urban practices and collaborating with local communities to create a site‑specific piece. The program is open to individual artists or collectives of up to three members, and is specifically targeted at artists and cultural professionals residing in a Creative Europe country other than Italy. Applicants are encouraged to be from diverse backgrounds, including people with disabilities, racialised people, queer artists, and artist‑mothers. Selected artists receive a hosting allowance, daily allowance, and travel allowance as set by the Culture Moves Europe scheme, accommodation at OvestLab’s guesthouse, mentorship from territorial curators, visa support, linguistic mediation, and a fully accessible workspace. The residency takes place in May 2027 for 28 continuous days, with a public restitution in June 2027 and a possible presentation at the Periferico Festival in October 2027.

Open to artists and cultural professionals residing in a Creative Europe country other than Italy; eligible countries include Albania, Armenia, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Kosovo, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Tunisia, Ukraine and their overseas territories; open to individuals or collectives of up to 3 artists; applications especially welcomed from people with disabilities, racialised people, queer artists, and artist‑mothers.
