About This Opportunity

18th Street Arts Center’s Visiting Artist Residency Program provides artists, curators, writers, and musicians with fully furnished private live/work studio apartments in Santa Monica, California. Residencies last between one and three months (sometimes longer) and are supported by subsidized studio rents ranging from $1‑2 per square foot. Residents receive studio amenities such as a smart TV, Wi‑Fi, bike, kitchen, and bath, as well as access to monthly professional‑development opportunities, tools/equipment, and exhibition possibilities. The program is open to working, professional artists of all generations, nationalities, and disciplines. Funding for each residency is handled on a case‑by‑case basis; many international artists secure support through cultural ministries or partner organizations, while others may cover basic costs themselves. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed quarterly. No visa assistance is provided, though an invitation letter can be issued. Interested artists submit a letter of interest, CV, work samples, and a brief statement about funding support via the online application form.
