Travel Grants for Guest Performances in Germany

The Goethe‑Institut’s Travel Grant supports guest performances by theatrical and dance ensembles from countries that receive German development assistance. German festivals, theatres or organisers may apply to cover the travel expenses and shipping fees of invited ensembles. The funding is limited to travel costs (including rail preference for journeys up to 7 hours/600 km) and shipping of equipment. Applications are accepted year‑round, with quarterly deadlines (Nov 15, Feb 15, May 15, Aug 15) for projects starting in the corresponding quarter. No entry fee is required. Applicants must provide a detailed financing plan, comparative travel offers, and proof of eligibility according to the DAC list of cooperation countries. The grant does not cover accommodation, and travel to German‑speaking countries is excluded.
