The Abbey Foundation Residencies

Since 2025, The Abbey Foundation for the Arts offers six‑month artist‑in‑residence grants that provide day‑use of an 850 sq ft indoor studio and an adjacent screened outdoor space suitable for large‑scale works. Residents receive a material stipend of up to $5,000 to purchase equipment and supplies needed for their projects. The program is open to artists working in a variety of media, with a particular focus on those residing in the local counties of Mendocino/Anderson Valley, as the grant does not cover housing, transportation, meals, or travel. Applicants must be able to relocate for the six‑month period. At the end of the residency, the artist is expected to contribute one artwork created during the stay. The foundation may also involve residents in community workshops and short‑term artist‑led events. Applications are accepted online, and there is no fee to apply.
