About This Opportunity

The Textile Art Biennial BIEN 2027 is an international exhibition of contemporary textile art organized by the Carnica Institute in Kranj, Slovenia. The call invites artists, designers, and researchers worldwide to submit three works no older than three years, primarily textile-based or referencing textiles through material, technique, or concept. Submissions are accepted online only. The exhibition will run from 29 May to 14 August 2027 across four Slovenian cities—Kranj, Tržič, Škofja Loka, and Jesenice—featuring multiple opening events. The curatorial theme is “Traces of Grace.” Winners are selected by a jury and will receive a residency award in Kranj of up to four weeks, covering travel, accommodation, per diem, and production costs for 2028 or 2029. Additional ETA awards are available for artists under 29, offering two‑week or one‑week residencies. The organizer covers return shipping and insures artworks up to €999. A non‑refundable application fee of €10 applies, with a free track for students. The deadline for applications is 21 December 2026 (midnight CET).
