Printed Matter Publisher Work Grant
Printed Matter, Inc.
About This Opportunity
The Printed Matter Publisher Work Grant, now in its third year, provides three unrestricted grants of $10,000 USD each to independent artists’ book publishers. The award aims to support capacity‑building, allowing recipients to develop future book projects, upgrade equipment, cover production costs, or any other needs that strengthen their imprint. In addition to the monetary award, each grant winner receives a highlighted exhibitor presence at a forthcoming Printed Matter New York or Los Angeles Art Book Fair, offering valuable exposure to collectors, curators, and the broader art‑book community. Applications are accepted worldwide and must be submitted by October 11, 2026, 11:59 PM EST via the online Submittable portal. Eligible applicants are independent presses with a documented publishing history of at least one year, actively producing artists’ books, and not primarily commercial client work or tied to well‑funded institutions. Past winners of this specific grant, current or recent Printed Matter staff, and commercial client‑only studios are excluded. The application process is free of charge. Selected grantees will be asked to provide a brief report on fund usage after one year and to supply three copies of a published book for the Printed Matter and Wagner Foundation archives.
