About This Opportunity

The Sony Future Filmmaker Awards 2027 is a major international competition that supports creative excellence in filmmaking. Open to creators worldwide, the program invites submissions across several categories, including Narrative (5‑20 min), Documentary (2‑20 min), Animation (2‑20 min with at least 75% animation), Immersive (VR180/360, 5‑20 min), Student (film students, 5‑20 min) and Future Format (vertical video, 2‑5 min). All entries must be narrative‑led or factual as specified per category, and must meet the length requirements. The competition awards one winner and a shortlist of up to ten finalists per category. Winners and shortlisted filmmakers are flown to Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, California, where they attend an awards ceremony and a bespoke industry immersion program. This program includes exclusive workshops led by Sony Pictures executives, masterclasses, panel discussions, studio tours, screenings, and Q&A sessions, providing valuable networking and professional development opportunities.
