Renaissance House Harlem Residency Program
Renaissance House Harlem
About This Opportunity
Renaissance House Harlem is a safe and inspirational environment for writers with special talents. The residency program invites artists working in all aspects of literary and verbal arts—poetry, memoir, journalism, comics, plays, screenplays, documentaries, novels, and other word‑based projects—to apply. Applicants must submit a project proposal and recent work samples, and the program accepts applications on a rolling basis with no fixed deadline. The residency lasts up to two weeks and includes accommodations, meals, lectures, and fellowship meetings. While the program does not provide stipends, travel expenses, or child‑care coverage, it offers weekly fees of $950 for new residents, $900 for returning alumni, and $200 for commuters. Scholarships are available for returning alumni who need financial assistance. The program is open to writers of all ages, nationalities, and career stages, and encourages a diverse range of perspectives. The application process requires downloading an online form and submitting it along with work samples. The admissions panel, composed of distinguished professionals in each discipline, evaluates proposals based on artistic excellence, need, and the desire to create. Renaissance House Harlem is committed to nondiscrimination and equal opportunity for all applicants.
