About This Opportunity

The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) Fiscal Sponsorship Program provides artists, cultural workers, and emerging art organizations with a nonprofit fiscal sponsor. By extending NYFA’s 501(c)(3) status, the program enables projects to receive tax‑deductible donations and apply for funding opportunities that require a nonprofit sponsor. The program runs four free application cycles per year with set deadlines; the next cycle opens July 15 and closes August 17, 2026. Out‑of‑cycle applications are accepted year‑round for a $175 fee. Eligible projects must have a clear public benefit, a defined scope and timeline, and cannot be profit‑driven or for student theses. Applicants need a U.S. tax ID (SSN, EIN, or ITIN) and must submit a project description, budget, work samples, and tax documentation via NYFA’s Submittable portal. Accepted projects retain creative control, receive financial oversight, staff assistance, a profile page on NYFA’s website, and the ability to process donations and grants through NYFA’s infrastructure. Annual renewal fees and a small administrative fee based on funds raised apply.
