About This Opportunity

HOTA, Home of the Arts, announces the return of the Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Photography Award 2026, Queensland’s richest acquisitive photographic prize. The award offers a $25,000 cash prize and the possibility of up to an additional $25,000 in acquisitions for finalists, together with an exhibition platform at HOTA Gallery from 28 November 2026 to 7 March 2027. Entrants may submit one work in any contemporary photographic medium, including photocollage, sculpture, projection, installation and cameraless photography. Eligibility requires applicants to be over 18, Australian citizens or permanent residents, and the work must be created on or after 11 May 2025 and not exceed 300 cm in any dimension. The award is open to individuals and collectives, with a single submission per entrant. The entry fee is $15 AUD (reduced from previous rates). Applications close on 17 August 2026 at midnight. The award is judged by a panel of esteemed professionals and the winning works become part of the Gold Coast City Gallery collection.
