About This Opportunity

For over 20 years, the Dewar Arts Awards has supported talented young people to overcome financial barriers and flourish in the arts. Established in 2001 as a memorial to Scotland's first First Minister Donald Dewar, the Trust has provided over 6.7 million pounds of funding to support more than 1,300 talented young people. Trustees look for candidates who have demonstrable outstanding ability and talent, strong artistic and creative ambition, and are able to show real passion for their chosen artform, project or practice. Support is directed towards exceptional candidates who demonstrate genuinely limited financial means. The emphasis is predominantly on education and professional development through institutions and courses. Applications are considered on a rolling basis with no fixed deadline. Trustees meet four times a year. Exclusions: no funding for CD/DVD production; film or performing arts production is rarely funded; retrospective awards cannot be considered. The Trustees are committed to inclusion and diversity and welcome applications from all backgrounds including care-experienced individuals and under-represented communities.
