Percent for Art Scheme
Department of Housing and Works
About This Opportunity
The Percent for Art Scheme is a State Government initiative implemented by the Department of Housing and Works that encourages art in the built environment. It requires up to one percent of a development’s overall budget to be spent on commissioned artwork for new public buildings such as schools, police stations and hospitals. The scheme is open to Western Australian artists who can contract to deliver exciting artwork for major new public buildings. Artists can apply through the guidelines and agreement forms provided on the Department’s website. The program offers funding up to 1% of the construction budget for works over $2 million, and provides a commission for the selected artist. The scheme is ongoing, with applications accepted year‑round.
