About This Opportunity

The Pottery Artist in Residence program invites emerging and mid‑career ceramic artists to spend three months creating, exhibiting, and selling work at one of its three Central Coast studios (Atascadero, Grover Beach, or Baywood). Residents receive 24‑hour studio access, a Level One membership allowing up to ten personal pieces fired each month, free clay for a storefront window display, a dedicated shelf where they keep 60 % of sales, a 5 % discount on materials, and the option to lead a paid workshop. The residency does not provide housing, travel support, or a stipend; artists must live within commuting distance or arrange their own lodging. Applications are accepted for four seasonal sessions each year, with deadlines on November 1 (Winter), February 1 (Spring), May 1 (Summer) and August 1 (Fall). Applicants submit an artist statement, CV, images of recent work, a window concept, and a reference. Selections are reviewed after each deadline, with interviews for finalists and notification by email.
