Family Residency in Finland
Taideniitty
About This Opportunity

The Taideniitty Artist Residency is a self‑funded program located in the historic industrial town of Varkaus, Finland, within the Finnish Lakeland. It welcomes professional artists from all disciplines, with a particular emphasis on visual and graphic arts, to pursue their own research, experimentation, or ongoing projects. The residency offers 1‑to‑3‑month stays in fully furnished private apartments that include a bedroom, living area, bathroom, and kitchen, as well as shared studio space, a printmaking studio with an etching press, a sauna, laundry facilities, Wi‑Fi, and basic kitchen supplies. Artists are responsible for travel, living, and material costs. Applications are submitted by email to taideniitty@gmail.com with a brief introduction, a two‑page project proposal, CV, and portfolio. The selection committee reviews applications and informs applicants of the outcome by 15 September 2026. Selected artists must pay a €200 reservation fee within two weeks of acceptance, which is deducted from the total residency fee. The remaining fee must be paid no later than three months before the residency start date. The residency periods are January 1 – April 30 2027 and September 1 – December 31 2027.
