Open Call: The Family – Lineage, Choice, and the Album

Der Greif, an award‑winning organisation for contemporary photography based in Munich, Germany, launches an open call titled “The Family – Lineage, Choice, and the Album”. The call seeks photographic and video submissions that investigate the complexities of family – whether defined by blood, heritage, or chosen community. Artists are encouraged to interrogate how familial roles are performed, what is preserved in the family album, and what remains unrecorded. Selected participants will receive an online exhibition on Der Greif’s platform, a round‑table critique session with peers facilitated by Der Greif staff, and increased visibility within the international Der Greif community. Additionally, artists may be invited to submit their portfolio to Der Greif Studio, opening pathways to sales and commissions. While a voluntary donation of €10 is suggested to support the non‑profit, the submission itself is free. The deadline for entries is 16 November 2026 at 23:59 CET. Applications are submitted via Picter’s contest platform.
