Open Call: Open Archief 5.0
Framer Framed
About This Opportunity
Open Archief is an artist‑in‑residence programme that functions as an exploratory site for artists to experiment with archives, combining practical implementation and critical reflection on archival practices. The fifth edition, Open Archief 5.0, focuses on the theme Access & Agency and offers three six‑month residencies from December 2026 to May 2027. Residents will work with the collections of four partner institutions – Sound & Vision, the Nieuwe Instituut, the International Institute of Social History and Framer Framed – and receive a grant of €6,000 (allowance and production budget). The programme provides mentorship, access to archival materials, support from staff and external experts, and the opportunity to create a publication that will be presented in June 2027. Applicants must be graduates living in the Netherlands with a work permit, identify as an artist, designer, curator, writer or creator, and have an affinity for archival materials. Proposals (in English or Dutch) are due by 17:00 CET on 30 October 2026 and should include a motivation letter, a portfolio and a CV. The residency requires a minimum of four days of work per month and culminates in a combined presentation of research and findings.
