About This Opportunity

The Munich Creative Business Week (mcbw) Public Space Open Call, organized by bayern design GmbH, seeks design creators—individuals, studios, or collectives—to develop interactive, surprising installations for prominent public locations in Munich. Submissions must address the 2027 theme “SIGNAL — NOISE” and aim to create experiences that people can enter, touch, and remember. Selected projects will be realized in venues such as the Südwiese at the Alte Pinakothek, with full support from the mcbw team, including regular check‑ins, media coverage in the mcbw magazine, website, newsletter, and social channels, as well as a portfolio‑building exhibition component. The timeline runs from proposal submission (deadline 5 October 2026) through concept development (until November 2026), production (December 2026 – March 2027), and installation during the mcbw festival (10 – 16 May 2027). No entry fee is required, and while no monetary prize is offered, participants gain extensive visibility, professional sparring, and the opportunity to realize a public‑space project in one of Germany’s cultural capitals.
