About This Opportunity

Mare Nostrum Elements (MNE) is launching its 2027 Emerging Choreographer Series (ECS), a five‑month intensive self‑producing program for NYC‑based choreographers. The cohort will comprise five artists who will create, develop, and premiere an original 8–12 minute stage work. Selected participants receive a $1,000 choreographic fee, paid dancers at $18 per hour, up to 35 hours of free rehearsal space at LaGuardia Performing Arts Center (LPAC), professional‑development workshops, dramaturgical mentorship, production and marketing support, and two fully produced performances on LPAC’s Mainstage Theater. The program runs from November 15, 2026 through April 27, 2027, with mandatory orientation, rehearsal, and performance dates. Eligibility requires applicants to be 18 or older, reside in one of New York City’s five boroughs, not be enrolled full‑time in a college or professional program, and be available for all program dates. Proposals must be new, stage‑based works of 8–12 minutes. Applications open September 21, 2026 and close October 11, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET. The application process includes a written Google Form, a short video submission, and optional Q&A sessions. The series is free to apply, with no production or rental fees. The call is hosted by Mare Nostrum Elements in partnership with LPAC, located in Queens, New York City.
