NRW KULTURsekretariat: Dance Research NRW Research Residencies 2026

The NRW KULTURsekretariat together with the tanz nrw 27 festival presents TANZRECHERCHE × SPRUNGBRETT, a production‑independent research grant for dance, choreography and performance artists. Two calls are open: (1) emerging artists based in North Rhine‑Westphalia (graduates or early‑career professionals) and (2) international choreographers and dance artists from abroad. Selected recipients receive a €5,000 grant per residency for 1–2 participants, covering a two‑week residency (26 April – 10 May 2027) in Wuppertal or Essen, use of venue resources, dramaturgical advice, organisational support, travel costs calculated, accommodation costs covered with assistance in finding lodging, and a documentation/material budget by agreement. The residency is followed by participation in the tanz nrw 27 festival (12–23 May 2027). Applications are submitted via a Google Form. The call runs annually in autumn, with the 2027 edition’s application period from 29 September to 3 November 2026.

Dance artists from abroad who wish to conduct research in NRW, as well as dance artists from one of the 20 member cities of the NRWKS who wish to conduct research abroad that is specific to a particular location or occasion, are eligible to apply.
