About This Opportunity

The National Parks Arts Foundation (NPAF) invites artists of all disciplines—visual, literary, musical, performance—to apply for the Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park Residency in October 2027. The residency runs from October 6th to 31st, 2027, providing a $4,000 stipend, a private house with studio, three bedrooms, a piano, recording booth and panoramic ocean views. Residents receive a studio, housing, events, publicity, and the chance to present a public program at the park. The program is open to single artists, couples, families, collectives, and troupes, with no nationality restrictions. Application fees are $60 for a single artist, $120 for a couple or duo, and $160 for groups of three or more. Applicants must arrange their own transportation to the park and secure their own insurance. The deadline for submissions is October 20, 2026, with notifications sent on November 16, 2026. Selected artists will join a vibrant community in a UNESCO World Heritage Site, surrounded by active volcanoes, rainforests, and coastal landscapes, and may contribute works to the National Park Service collection.
