New York City Small Theatres Fund

In partnership with the Howard Gilman Foundation, A.R.T./New York administers the New York City Small Theatres Fund, a two‑year general operating support grant aimed at theatre companies, artist collectives, or organisations that have been creating, developing, or presenting theatre for at least two years. The fund awards $7,500‑$10,000 each year to support a diverse range of theatrical aesthetics and community‑focused programming across the five boroughs. Applicants must have an annual operating budget between $15,000 and $250,000, be primarily active in New York City, and cannot be directly funded by the Howard Gilman Foundation. Eligible entities may be 501(c)(3) nonprofits, LLCs, fiscally‑sponsored groups, or unincorporated entities that operate “in spirit” as non‑profits. The application window opens on 29 September 2026 and closes on 17 November 2026. No application fee is required.
