About This Opportunity

The (M)Other Matters Creative Research Group (CRG) is a six‑month funded creative research programme designed for artists who have experienced the loss of a child. Led by Helen Acklam in partnership with Yewande 103 and the Good Grief Festival, the project brings together four bereaved artists to explore how loss can be expressed through art. Participants will engage in five online meetings, co‑curate and present existing work at Centrespace Gallery in Bristol, and take part in a public screening event with Q&A at Arnolfini, Bristol. The programme provides each artist with a £1,025 stipend, travel allowance, accommodation and per diems for two event days, as well as mentorship and exhibition opportunities. Applications are open to artists working in any medium, and the call explicitly welcomes disabled and LGBTQ+ artists. The deadline for applications is 26 October 2026 at 17:00. The initiative is publicly funded by Arts Council England and aims to support artistic practice rooted in personal grief while fostering community and dialogue.
