Minnesota Artists Exhibition Program (MAEP)

The Minnesota Artists Exhibition Program (MAEP) is a juried exhibition program hosted by the Minnesota Institute of Art (MIA). It invites emerging and mid‑career artists to propose a major solo exhibition within the museum’s galleries. Selected artists receive a $13,500 grant to realize their vision, along with staff support from art preparators, exhibition designers, registrars, media relations experts, and programming staff. The program emphasizes professional growth and offers a platform for artists to showcase work in a major fine‑arts institution. Eligibility requires artists to be residents of Minnesota for the duration of the exhibition; applicants must not be degree‑seeking students, under 18, or permanent MIA employees. Applications are accepted online via Submittable, and the current open call runs from October 1–31 2026, with the exhibition scheduled for November 20 2027–February 20 2028.
