Les Hauts de Sancerre Writers' Residency

Les Hauts de Sancerre, a luxury five‑star hotel located in the historic château of Sancerre, offers a writers’ residency that blends the tranquility of the Loire vineyards with a creative environment curated by the hotel’s curatorial team. The residency, launched in late 2025, provides up to eight writers with a private room, daily breakfast, and full access to the estate’s gardens, common rooms, and reading nooks. Stays last between two and four weeks, with placements made on a rolling basis until the end of March 2026. Applicants are required to submit a short text sample and a brief project description via email; no application fee is charged. The program is open to writers from any country, with language support in French, English, Chinese (Simplified), and Spanish. Partners and children are not accommodated, and writers must cover lunch, dinner, travel, and personal expenses. In return, residents are invited to share texts or journal entries inspired by the setting and to contribute to the estate’s cultural promotion through a public reading or a residency journal. The residency offers no stipend but provides a unique, immersive environment for focused writing.
