About This Opportunity

The Leipzig International Art Programme (LIA) is a nonprofit artist‑in‑residence initiative located in building 18 of the Spinnerei Leipzig, a former cotton‑mill complex. Each of the five studios measures 83 square metres and is fully furnished for both work and living, including Wi‑Fi, a shared kitchen, bathroom facilities, linen, towels and technical support. Residents receive monthly curatorial advice, visa‑ and scholarship assistance, and are guaranteed participation in one of LIA’s curated group shows (spring, summer, or autumn). The programme emphasizes on‑site creation and exchange with the local art community, offering studio visits, artist talks and professional tours. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis with no fixed deadline; interested artists submit a PDF application form, a CV, a biography and six work examples by e‑mail. A one‑time application fee of 20 € is required, together with a 100 € deposit for studio keys (refunded on departure). Residents pay a monthly programme fee of 1 750 € and are responsible for their own living, material, insurance and travel expenses. Eligibility is open to international visual artists who speak English reasonably well, can provide health‑insurance proof and are willing to contribute to the community by cleaning shared spaces. The residency can be booked for three or six months, and successful applicants are notified within four weeks of submission.
