About This Opportunity

NES Artist Residency is a self‑funded, multidisciplinary residency located in the remote fishing town of Skagaströnd, north Iceland. The program welcomes artists working in any discipline and at any career stage. Residents receive an individual workspace within a shared open‑plan studio, as well as access to a research library for writers, a private dance studio for performers, and the local music school for musicians. Stays range from one to six months, and applications are accepted on a rolling basis for the 2026/2027 cycle. Applicants must be able to fund their own stay, may need a Schengen visa (or ETIAS authorization after late 2026), and must adhere to restrictions on flammable or toxic materials. No stipend or housing is provided, but the residency offers a supportive environment for experimentation and curiosity‑driven practice.
