Japan | Performing Arts Camp 2026 for artists in Asia
ZA‑KOENJI Public Theatre
About This Opportunity
The Performing Arts Camp in Koenji (PACK) is a two‑week residential program hosted by ZA‑KOENJI Public Theatre in Tokyo, Japan. Open to artists based in Asia who are 35 years old or younger, the camp runs from 6 to 20 December 2026 and offers a cyclical process of mutual learning, research, and creation. Participants bring their own practices and inquiries, engage in lectures, discussions, and group experimentation, and culminate the experience with a collective ‘party’ that showcases their findings. The camp is supported by a per‑diem stipend of 2,400 JPY per day (tax included) for the 15‑day stay, research fees capped at 15,000 JPY, and travel assistance: round‑trip flight tickets for those outside Japan and transportation support for those outside the Kanto region. Accommodation is provided at the theatre’s facilities. The application deadline is 24 August 2026 at 4:00 pm JST. Detailed application guidelines are available in the accompanying PDF. This residency offers artists a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the Koenji community, collaborate with peers, and develop new work in a supportive, residential setting.
