About This Opportunity
The INHABIT Artist-in-Residence Program, hosted by the Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics in Frankfurt, Germany, offers a four‑month interdisciplinary residency for artists working in the performing arts and music. Applicants are expected to develop a project that can be presented as an exhibition, performance, concert, or other format, and to engage with the institute’s scientists and researchers. The program provides an artist’s fee of €8,000, an accommodation fee of €2,000, a project‑specific production budget, travel costs to and within Frankfurt, and access to the institute’s library, sound studio, and scientific facilities, as well as curatorial support. The open call is open to artists active in contemporary culture who can propose innovative, challenging ideas and are willing to collaborate across artistic and scientific domains. Applications must include a CV, an artist’s statement (max 500 words), a project description (max 500 words), and a portfolio (max 20 pages) and are to be submitted by September 01, 2026, 23:59 CET. Selected artists will work on their projects during the residency periods April–July 2027 (INHABIT #16) or September–December 2027 (INHABIT #17), after a jury decision in November 2026.
