About This Opportunity

The Museum of Loss and Renewal offers a self‑directed Individual Residency Programme titled TAKING TIME / PRENDENDO TEMPO in the village of Collemacchia, Molise, Italy. The residency provides artists, scholars and researchers with uninterrupted periods of work from May to October each year, allowing them to decelerate, reflect and create in a tranquil rural setting. Residents receive a private bedroom, an excellent studio/workspace, access to an on‑site library covering art, design, architecture and curating, and informal mentorship from curator Tracy Mackenna and her associates. The programme welcomes participants at any career stage, from any country, and also accepts duos, partnerships and collectives. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with outcomes communicated within a week. The residency fee is €500 per week per person, heavily subsidised by the museum; a 50 % deposit is required upon acceptance, with the balance due eight weeks before the start date. No travel, insurance or visa costs are covered, so applicants must arrange these themselves. The location offers a rich natural environment within the National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise, close proximity to the towns of Filignano and Venafro, and easy access to the cultural resources of Rome and Naples. The residency emphasizes an unstructured, outcome‑free approach, encouraging participants to use the time for personal practice, research, or project development. The museum’s ethos centres on attentiveness, meaningful exchange and unhurried working, extending care to both residents and the local community.
