Humboldt Residency Programme 2027 – Oceanic Horizons: Navigating the Future of Our Blue Planet
Alexander von Humboldt Foundation
About This Opportunity
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation’s Humboldt Residency Programme 2027 invites twelve early‑career researchers, alumni and civil‑society practitioners to a six‑week transdisciplinary residency in Germany. The 2027 theme, “Oceanic Horizons: Navigating the Future of Our Blue Planet”, explores the ecological, economic and cultural dimensions of the oceans and asks participants to develop innovative communication formats for a broad public. The programme runs from June to October 2027, with a two‑week stay at the Cultural Foundation Schloss Wiepersdorf (August 2‑13) followed by a four‑week residency in Berlin (August 13‑September 10) and a remote finalisation phase. Participants receive a monthly allowance, travel allowance, accommodation, and a budget for public‑event formats; family accommodation and childcare support are also offered. Eligibility is limited to twelve participants: five Humboldt alumni, three early‑career researchers (PhD ≤ 4 years), and four civil‑society practitioners (including artists, writers, curators, designers). Applicants must not be based in Germany and, for civil‑society practitioners, must not hold an academic position. Applications are submitted online, require a CV and a 60‑second introduction video, and must be received by 14 December 2026. An information‑session Zoom meeting is scheduled for 24 November 2026.
