“History Explored” Open Call for Art – Augusta Black History Exhibition
Greater Augusta Arts Council
About This Opportunity
The Greater Augusta Arts Council is seeking visual artists residing in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) to submit original works that respond to Augusta’s rich African American and Black history. Artists may draw inspiration from the Mayoral Collection of Augusta Black History, the Council’s “Augusta’s Black Arts History” series, or by visiting the Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History. All visual arts disciplines are welcome, including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, mixed media, digital art, ceramics, collage, and more. Selected works will be exhibited at the Augusta & Co. Gallery from January 7 to March 25 2027, alongside the Mayoral Collection exhibition at the City Gallery. A reception will be held on February 5 2027. The gallery operates on a 60 % artist / 40 % commission split for in‑person sales (70 %/30 % for online sales). Applications are free and must be submitted by November 8 2026, 11:59 p.m. via the provided submission link. The call is open to artists of all backgrounds and experience levels, but applicants must be based in the CSRA counties listed.
