Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation
Deadline: October 15, 2026

About This Opportunity

The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation’s Gulbenkian Institute for Advanced Study (IGEA) invites applications for its 2026–2027 scholarship programme, a fully funded research residency lasting between three and eight months. Designed to support internationally renowned academics, independent scholars, emeriti, and artists, the fellowship provides a quiet, intellectually stimulating environment in Lisbon with minimal routine obligations. Applicants must submit a curriculum vitae, a brief research proposal, and two referees. The selection process is competitive and conducted by the GIAS Advisory Board, with offers announced in late January 2027. The programme welcomes scholars from a wide range of disciplines—humanities, social sciences, arts, and interdisciplinary fields—provided the work is not primarily laboratory or experimental. There is no application fee, and the residency is fully funded, covering living expenses and providing access to the institute’s research facilities and international community. The call is open until 15 October 2026, and the programme is an annual recurring call.
