Deadline: January 10, 2027

About This Opportunity

The Virginia A. Groot Foundation Grant, established in 1988, offers three annual awards to artists working in ceramic sculpture or diverse three‑dimensional media. Each year three grants are awarded: First Place $60,000, Second Place $30,000, and Third Place $20,000. The grant is intended to support artists’ expenses for living, travel, materials, studio time, and other production costs, enabling them to devote substantial time to the development of their work. Applications are submitted through a SlideRoom portal that opens on June 1 and closes at 11:59 PM CT on January 10 (annual deadline). An entry fee of $7 is required per application. The program is open to international artists of any age or career stage, provided the work is sculptural (including ceramic) and not student work. Collaborative applications are accepted if marked as such. Applicants must submit up to 20 images of recent work (preferably from the past five years) and may include a short video (max 3 minutes). The foundation does not provide housing or travel stipends directly; award funds may be used at the artist’s discretion. The grant is administered by the Virginia A. Groot Foundation, based in Lake Forest, Illinois, USA.
