About This Opportunity

The Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) offers the Travel grant to professional artists and independent curators in its supported disciplines. The program provides financial support for travel-related expenses—including airfare, accommodation, per diem, visas, vaccinations, insurance, and translation fees—for projects that contribute to the artists’ career development. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with no fixed deadline, and applicants must submit their proposals at least four weeks before the intended travel start date. The grant has no maximum amount; funding is awarded on a case‑by‑case basis depending on the project’s scope and budget. Eligibility requires that applicants be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants, normally residing in Quebec for at least the previous 12 months, and that they have a professional record in one of CALQ’s supported disciplines. Independent curators must meet additional criteria, such as having produced independent projects and not being employed full‑time as a curator in an arts organization. The application process is conducted online via the Mon Dossier CALQ portal, and applicants must provide a project proposal, a letter of invitation or contract, and supporting documentation. The decision is communicated approximately eight weeks after submission. The grant encourages artists to travel within Quebec, across Canada, and internationally to attend conferences, exhibitions, auditions, and networking events, thereby expanding their professional networks and visibility.
