Goethe-Institut: Mobility Grants for Artists and Culture Professionals in Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe
Goethe-Institut
About This Opportunity
The Africa‑Europe Partnerships for Culture programme’s Sub‑Saharan Africa component, implemented by the Goethe‑Institut in partnership with Expertise France and Institut français, provides mobility grants of up to €4,000 per project. The scheme supports short‑term physical, digital or hybrid mobility for artists and culture professionals across all artistic sectors, fostering co‑creation, professional development and intercultural exchange between Africa and Europe. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis with quarterly cut‑off dates; the next deadline is December 2026. Eligible applicants are individual artists or teams aged 18 or older, based in Sub‑Saharan Africa or an EU Member State, and must have an established partnership or invitation in the destination country. The grant covers travel, accommodation (lump‑sum rates), subsistence, digital connectivity and can include additional top‑up support for family care or disability needs. No application fee is required. Successful grantees must submit a detailed project plan, portfolio, CV and a letter of invitation through the Goethe‑Application Portal (GAP). The programme aims to strengthen Africa‑Europe cultural cooperation, promote gender and geographic diversity, and enhance the professional trajectories of emerging and mid‑career artists.
