Ettijahat Life Programme

The Goethe‑Institut Gulf Region runs the "Chances" programme, a travel‑grant initiative aimed at artists and cultural practitioners from the Arab region. Applicants may receive a grant of up to €7,000 to cover travel costs for projects, residencies, exhibitions, or other professional activities within the Arab region or abroad. The call is open all year long, meaning applications are accepted on a rolling basis. No application fee is required. The programme is administered from the Goethe‑Institut Gulf Region in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Eligibility is limited to artists and cultural actors who are residents of, or hold nationality from, any Arab country. Successful applicants receive a travel grant; the programme does not provide accommodation or additional stipends. Applications are submitted directly to the awarding institution as indicated on the Goethe‑Institut website.

Open to all independent cultural entities and collectives active in Syria’s arts and culture sector; Open to informal artistic groups or collectives wishing to establish themselves institutionally, as well as groups of individuals seeking to found a cultural or artistic entity; The applicant representing the entity must be Syrian—or considered as such*—and currently residing in Syria; The primary focus of the entity’s activities and programmes must take place in Syria or be managed from within Syria;
