Eco‑Syntax Residency

Eco‑Syntax Residency is a studio‑and‑accommodation residency run by Proposition Studios in Derbyshire, near Heanor. The residency offers affordable living and large studio space for up to 20 creatives, with a focus on ecological and socially engaged practice. Participants are expected to contribute to community life through workshops, crits, communal dinners, and food‑growing projects, and to lead at least one workshop or event during their stay. The residency provides a range of studio types—from large open studios to self‑contained cottages—and access to a RE‑USE room stocked with salvaged materials. Artists also benefit from a theatre, communal kitchen, garden, and connections to landworkers, scientists, and other ecological practitioners. The programme runs for 6 weeks to 6 months, with rolling applications and no fixed deadline. The residency is free to apply for, but artists must cover their own travel and living costs. Accommodation is included, and the residency offers studio space, community support, and material resources.
