About This Opportunity

The Copyright Agency’s Cultural Fund supports leading Australian creative organisations and key industry stakeholders with grants to create and deliver exceptional opportunities for Australian writers, journalists, editors, publishers, English and literacy teachers, and visual artists, especially those from First Nations and diverse backgrounds. For 2026 the Fund runs two rounds; Round Two opens in July 2026 and closes at 1 pm AEST on 14 September 2026. Grants range from $10,000 to $30,000 per project and may be used for commissions, audience‑development initiatives, leadership and sector‑development activities, and other eligible projects that start after 3 August 2026. Applications are submitted via the SmartyGrants online system. Eligible applicants are legally constituted Australian organisations and incorporated associations (including universities, cultural institutions and publishing bodies). Individuals, sole traders, unincorporated entities, government departments and organisations applying for visual‑arts publishing fees are excluded. The Fund encourages applicants to pay industry rates to writers and visual artists. Successful projects receive funding for up to one year, with no accommodation or travel support provided.
